Techniques
Batik :
Batik is a unique and exotic form of art that touch on creativity and beauty
Batik is a traditional process of colouring textile through a series of waxing and dyeing. The process involves covering the areas of cloth which are not to be dyed with melted wax through the
"tjanting" or "stamping" process, the wax is later removed by immersion in boiling water. An exquisite batik piece is then handpainted with special care and attention given to the application of both design and colour.
Songket :
Songket is a hand-weaven product. Materials use to produce songket is silver or golden silk thread, multicolor thread and also cotton thread. Duration taken to finish a piece of Songket vary from 1 to 2 months depending on the designs made.
Mask :
All our masks are hand made, hand carved and hand painted by village artisans which makes each individual piece a true work of art with its own unique patterns and designs. The dimensions of the carvings are approximate as there is no two pieces can be made alike. In the interest of the environment, the majority of our masks are made from Albizia wood. It is one of the world’s fastest growing trees and steadily re-forrested as it is harvested.
Cloisonne :
Cloisonne bracelets have the greatest perceived value and a jewelry-like finish. It is said that cloisonne can be preserved for 100 years without fading because it is derived from mineral ore. This ancient art that developed over thousand years in China requires meticulous handcrafted details. The custom designed bracelets are formed to a gold or silver surface, and then hand-filled with colored cloisonne paste. The bracelets are then kiln-fired at 800 degrees centigrade. More color is added, the bracelets are fired again. These steps ensure bleeding of colors do not occur. After firing, each bracelet is hand-polished to give hard and smooth enamel, which is resistant to scratching. Owing to hard durable finish, cloisonne is best suited for long last wear.
Washing & Care Instruction
Batik Sarong, Pareo, Beaded Pareo and all Tiedye are heavily saturated with dye in the production, you can expect some dye to
bleed during washing process (but this will not affect the original color of the garment),
Wash separately for the initial few times. For the first wash, let it soak for
about 15 mins in cold water mix with 1 tablespoon of ordinary salt. Rinse
in cold water and hang to dry.
For all garments that are full with embroidery, sewn with sequins & beads, we
recommend only hand washing in cold water. Rinse in cold water and hang to dry.
Other regular garments, we propose machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. Do not spin dry
